The design of this unit revolves around plastic storage tubs like those sold in home centers and large discount stores. The entire project, minus the optional shelves and cleats, is built from two sheets of medium-density fiberboard (MDF), but birch plywood would work as well.

Great solution, no more hunting for my Circular saw

Plans were complete and accurate. I guess just a couple of issues. 1) the plans called for a sheet of plywood larger than the 4x8 sold in the stores...I bought the 4x8 and then reduced the sides by 1/2" 2) if you used mdf, I think this thing would sink through the surface of the earth due to weight 3) be careful with your casters attachment, if your bolt is too long it may block the swivel of the casters.

Love this unit. Bins on top (16 I think ?) GREAT for storage, but even better is the tools area on the bottom. Used to have to search for tools between my shed and the garage ... now I don't have to look for my circular saw, I KNOW where it is.

I added some pipe on the outside for moving, and clamps attaching.

The unit is HUGE, taller than I expected. I'm 6'3" and its as tall if not taller than me.

Cleared out 4 small cabinets after I built this, Was able to organize small items into separate sections. Wife ended up taking 1/4 of the space for her canning supplies. This really saves space and makes finding items much easier.
