Go from freshly milled to project-ready using only passive heating. Air-drying slowly and steadily reduces the moisture content of fresh-cut lumber–to a point. For indoor furniture projects you really need kiln-dried stock, ideally with a moisture content of 9 percent or less. And this solar kiln does just that, without the heating bill. After you move your dried lumber to the shop, back out some lag screws to separate the kiln's panels and stack them out of the way until you need them again.
