This compact unit packs loads of lumber into only 18" of width. Casters let you swivel one end to load up sheet goods from your driveway, then swivel the other to offload sheets into your shop. The shorts rack side doubles as a simple panel saw, maximizing shop space even more. You can make it in a few hours from a single sheet of 3/4" plywood, one 2x6, and seven 2x4s.

Movable Wood Storing Rack

Rating:
Pros:
  • Can carry a lot of sheet goods plus
Cons:
  • I think it could have been wider
After putting this item together I realized that the wheels could have been farther apart but having said that I find that the rack itself is just fine. I ended up with more sheet wood than I thought I had and felt that the storage rack could have been made larger. In reality though the rack in itself is just fine and worth investing in for the majority of people looking for any type of movable wood storage. I also found it great for unloading from your vehicle since you are able to load it to the rack and just push it into storage before use. Yes it is worth the investment for the plans and the lumber plus wheels to assemble this cart. I don't have a picture at the present time as it is all covered up until I have my garage set up and for that I am sorry.

The rack design is simple and straightforward. The plans are accurate with only exception being the top horizontal 2X4 needing a slight bevel cut on the top edge to align flush with the top edges of the 3 plywood upright panels. I also extended the lower shelf by the thickness of one 2X4 so as to accommodate a couple more pieces of 4X8 sheet goods, and added fold down handles to each end panel. Easy one day project.
