This is a video on how to fabricate granite for an under-mount kitchen sink for Do-It-Yourselfers. The project was to replace a top-mount granite kitchen sink with an under-mount granite kitchen sink. We took a piece of matching "pre-fabbed" granite slab (by pre-fabbed we mean the edge has been pre-fabricated), cut the sink hole and polished the entire sink edges.
In this 28 minute video, Buren Smith, Applied Diamond Technology's 25-year veteran stone fabricator demonstrates the following skills and techniques:
Templating
Using variable-speed angle grinder
Straight cutting with turbo blade
Curved cutting with contour blade
Smoothing sink opening with drum wheel
Polishing under-mount sink with dry polishing pads
Drilling faucet hole with Sure-Guide and dry core bit
This video demonstrates fabrication of a rectangular under-mount sink. These skills and tools used can also be applied to fabricating oval under-mount sinks and vessel bowls.
This how-to woodworking video runs 28 minutes.
