Solid-wood furniture construction has been the hallmark of quality throughout the ages, so edge-gluing narrow boards to make wider panels is a fundamental woodworking skill. But you don't need a shop full of expensive machinery to glue up large panels. In this video, WOOD magazine Design Editor Jeff Mertz shows tips for making a flat panel using basic tools. He discusses how to select lumber and prepare it, provides tips for applying glue and clamping, and how to use a palm sander to flatten any ridges in the panel.
This how-to woodworking video runs 10 minutes.
