"Furnitology 101" takes you through the building process and completion of a three-drawer chest, and then applies the same techniques to building a cupboard. You will be exposed to:
Panel selection and layout
Layout and construction of a curved leg
Wood selection and milling solid lumber
The mortise-and-tenon joint, rabbet joint, and the groove
Gluing edge banding, rims, and cases
Use of the tablesaw, jointer, planer, router, and bandsaw
Mortising with the drill press
Drawer construction and assembly
Neil Lamens has been a woodworker for over 25 years. His experiences include managing production at Broyhill Furniture Industries, working the craft-fair circuit, and custom cabinetmaking. He has designed and constructed custom cabinetry for interior decorators, and exhibited at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair. He lives in a home he designed and built himself. Neil holds a BA in Industrial Arts and MBA in International Business and Finance.
