This plan was easy to follow and ended in a great and useful addition to our outdoor kithen. I just followed the step by step plans and it worked out great.
I suppose I should be angry about this project because of all the work for me it has caused. I built the cutting board and gave it to my brother -- a piano player -- as a gift. Everyone who saw it said, "I want one of those." So I have now constructed 3 of these.
If you decide to do this project, I have the following advice:
-Precision is key. Make sure all your saw angles are exact. The 45 degree cuts were especially hard to set up so you might consider making a few extra test pieces to practice on.
-The plans don't say this, but you only need 2 8' boards, one of maple and the other of walnut with a nominal 1x4 dimension. I found these at the local home centers and it saved me both a trip to my wood supplier and the task of milling the boards.
Thanks for an imaginative intarsia project.
