Woodworker Dave Knau needed a ceiling for his new basement rec room, but he wanted more than office-style acoustic panels and skinny metal grids. Instead, he created an all-wood ceiling that looks permanent, but disassembles for easy access to overhead wiring and plumbing. Dave’s simple system consists of only three groups of parts: wall-mounted strips for the perimeter of the room, grid pieces, and panels cut from ¼” plywood. Use Dave’s system to make your own home enhancement.
